Hello, my name is Suzanne Solow.
I grew up in Ridley Park, PA, then spent the majority of my young adult life living in Philadelphia. Teaching is my second career. After graduating with a degree in English from Temple University, I worked in the marketing and advertising industry. While it was exciting to travel and thrive in a fast-paced environment, I found the work to be unfulfilling. Teaching was always in the back of my mind so I decided to observe a good friend who was a high school English teacher; from that day on, I never looked back. I started teaching at Audenried High School in Philadelphia, then came to Northern in 2013.
Currently I teach 10th grade English. I count myself lucky to work in an environment where I am consistently challenged and inspired by both students and faculty. I truly believe that the students at Northern are some of the nicest teenagers you’ll ever meet. There is something very special about the Northern community. The kindness and generosity in Greyhound Nation inspires me to be a better human.
My husband and I live in Riverton, NJ and stay busy by chasing around our young daughter and manic dog. Though I have my hands full, I am always looking forward to the next challenge, and next up for me will the process of attempting National Board Certification. I am very passionate about my subject matter and hope that this is evident in my teaching and dedication to the profession. Thanks for reading!
