I grew up overseas in Lebanon where I learned to speak, write, and read French, Arabic, and English. I completed my BA degree in Education for preschool and elementary levels. I came to the US when I was 22 and first worked in retail for about 6 years managing stores in Princeton and in Bridgewater in NJ. With the constant encouragement of my father I decided to return to my passion of teaching. My transferred credentials were not sufficient so I was obliged to complete 30 more credits that I achieved at Thomas Edison State College in Trenton. My first teaching job was as an Aide in a special education class in Westampton at Holly Hills Elementary School (K-2nd grade).Three years later I accidentally found myself standing in the wrong line at a job fair at BBC in front of the table of Northern Burlington administrators. “Oh no! This is not an elementary school” I said to myself. After having stood for 30 minutes in line, I decided to proceed and present myself. I was hired a week later. I started my career as a High school French teacher at Northern in the spring of 2000! Destiny was written for me!!!
Since then I have been teaching French to all different class levels: French I, II, III, IV, and V. I teach about all French speaking countries including my own country and always have anecdotes and stories to tell my students about my past experiences and backgrounds. I have loved teaching and interacting with teens since the beginning, despite my nervousness on day one!
In the classroom I am the teacher, the actress, the performer, the mother, the friend… I love engaging with my students and sparking their interest in the language and the culture of French. I respect my students and they respect me.
Outside teaching I am the mother of two teens who keep me very busy at home. My husband is a great cook and a big golfer so when he is out on the course , I am out gardening and shopping!
