Hello, I’m Jill Stabile and I welcome the opportunity for you to get to know me a little bit better. I’m a native New Yorker (Long Island and NYC), but I’ve lived in New Jersey for the last thirty-plus years, starting in a log home in Medford Lakes. I earned an engineering degree from Princeton University and spent the first twelve of my post college years as a structural engineer.
After taking some time off to care for my children, I decided to re-enter the workforce. I had always felt the calling to teach, so I earned my teaching license in Mathematics via the Alternate Route program available in New Jersey. I later added certification in Applied Technology. I spent a year at Rancocas Valley while completing the program and came to Northern the following year, in 2008.
Since coming to Northern, I have taught classes in both the Math Department and the Applied Technology Department. In The Math Department I have taught Algebra ll, Honors Algebra ll, Precalculus, Honors Precalculus, Project-Based Mathematics-STEM and HSPA Prep. In the Applied Technology Department I’ve taught Advanced Engineering and Innovation and Material, Design and Engineering Technology.
I enjoy a classroom atmosphere where there’s a lot of give and take between me and my students. I believe that if they feel comfortable in my class, they’re more likely to learn and more likely to reach out for help in any regard. I also welcome feedback from you, the parents. In my time at Northern I have held several extracurricular positions. I was the coach for the JV Girls Tennis Team and then for the Varsity Girls Tennis Team. I also served as the advisor for the S.T.O.P. Club for several years. S.T.O.P. is a group whose aim is to eliminate prejudice. I have also helped out with the STEM camp during the summer.
In my free time I enjoy reading, knitting and building all kinds of projects, from woodworking projects to additions to my home. In fact, my husband and I doubled the size of that log house and do most or our renovations ourselves.
